The Faculty of Science and Engineering is committed to sharing the activity and benefits of higher education and research with the wider community. We carry out a wide range of activities across our nine Schools, reflecting the strong public interest in our work and in line with our aim of inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Outreach in the School of Chemistry
School of Chemistry
The School of Chemistry offers a wide range of demonstration lectures, talks, careers information and hands-on science activities to primary and secondary schools, colleges and the general public.
School of Computer Sciences
School of Computer Science
The School of Computer Science engages young people and teachers, running courses and workshops for school and college aged students and their teachers. Our very popular animation competition has run annually since 2008.
School of Earth, Atmospheric and Environmental Science
School of Earth and Environmental Science
The School of Earth and Environmental Science runs a number of activities for students studying at A-level. In addition to schools visiting us here in Manchester we also visit Schools and Colleges to guest lecture.

School of Materials
The School of Materials is committed to outreach and public engagement activities. We engage schools and colleges by offering practical help for teaching GCSE and A-level materials content and a series of exciting practical experiments.
School of Mathematics
School of Mathematics
The School of Maths wants to fill young people with enthusiasm for mathematics. They run a range of activities to motivate secondary school pupils, producing events and competitions, puzzles to try at home and information for teachers.

Public engagement activities at The School of Physics and Astronomy include liaison with schools and colleges, working with the popular Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre, as well as high profile TV and media appearances.
