School of Engineering Graduate PhD Scholarship

Fully funded PhD scholarships for students graduating from the School of Engineering at Manchester

We're delighted to launch our fully-funded School of Engineering Graduate PhD Scholarship to provide a pathway for current School of Engineering students to progress onto postgraduate research in 23/24.

The scholarship - for final year, UK undergraduate and master's students in the School of Engineering - will cover tuition fees and include a minimum annual stipend of £17,668 for a period of three and a half years, subject to satisfactory progress.

Scholarships are available within each of the four departments in the School of Engineering, and are available for 3.5 year full-time programmes or the equivalent duration part-time.

Eligibility criteria

These fully-funded PhD scholarships are open to students who:

• Have, or expect to achieve, at least a 2.1 honours degree or a master's in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at The University of Manchester
• Reside in the UK
• Are eligible for home fees
• Will be starting their PhD in 2023/24

Available projects

These scholarships can be used to fund projects in any area of research undertaken by academics in the School of Engineering, across the disciplines of:

• Aerospace Engineering
• Chemical Engineering
• Civil Engineering
• Computer Science
• Electrical and Electronic Engineering
• Engineering Project Management
• Mechanical Engineering

Application process

1. Choose your research project and find your supervisor.
2. Complete your application online.
3. Specify in the funding section of your application that you wish to be considered for the School of Engineering Graduate PhD Scholarship.
4. Your application will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
5. Successful applicants will be invited to interview.
