Why study Chemistry?

A central science that underpins modern society

Chemistry is an all-encompassing science that explores the building blocks of reality, the principles that govern matter and bond together the atoms and molecules that make up our world.

At Manchester, we study at the smallest scale while standing on the shoulders of giants, including our Nobel prize winners. We learn and progress from strong foundations to create a more sustainable future for those who come after us.

The scientific tools that you will be trained in will also be the building blocks of your own career, equipping you with the tools to solve problems in a variety of industries.

Think you know chemistry?

Discover the potential of studying a subject that is curious about our world and calls for creativity, providing solutions for problems our society faces every day.
