School of Natural Sciences Diversity Scholarship

Supporting UK, black-heritage postgraduate researchers

We are committed to building a diverse community of students and staff that fully reflects the diversity of wider society.

We recognise that such diversity benefits all members of our academic community.

To address the imbalances in the representation of our student community, we are pleased to announce the award of two fully funded PhD scholarships for students residing in the UK who are eligible for home fees and who identify as black-heritage (encompassing African, Caribbean, and black-mixed heritage).

What you'll get

These awards for entry in 2025 / 26 will cover tuition fees and include a minimum annual stipend of £19,237 for a period of three and a half years, subject to satisfactory progress. The scholarships are available for 3.5-year full-time programmes or the equivalent duration part-time.

In addition to the scholarship, the School is also funding mentors to provide additional career and pastoral support for the students on the programme.
