School of Engineering
Our School of Engineering will create a myriad of possibilities; for students pursuing skills and understanding, researchers seeking discoveries and businesses building partnerships.
Our diverse body of Engineering staff and students work together to help reshape the world, developing skills in everything from robotics, green processing and artificial intelligence, to healthcare technologies, low-carbon infrastructure and digital engineering. We are proud to foster a sense of curiosity, creativity and innovation to address real world problems.Professor Alice Larkin / Head of School of Engineering
Through dynamic research and teaching we're developing engineering solutions that will make a difference to society in an ethical and sustainable way.
Science-based engineering is at the heart of what we do, and through collaboration with the School of Natural Sciences we will support engineers and scientists who are technically strong, analytically innovative and creative.
Making a difference
Sharing the knowledge gained from our research within the Faculty to improve our behaviours and practices, especially in environmental sustainability, enables our staff and students to make a difference in their study and work and generate solutions to society’s challenges.
Our engineering departments
Department of Chemical Engineering
Chemical engineering concerns the science and technology related to manufacturing products from raw materials in a safe, sustainable, environmentally benign and cost-effective way. As the birthplace of chemical engineering, today we're the UK's largest chemical engineering department.
