Building access

Find out how to get access to Faculty of Science and Engineering buildings as a postgraduate researcher (PGR).

Building access arrangements vary by School, Institute and building. Find your School or Institute below, then select the relevant section to see what you need to do.

You may need to complete health and safety training, provide details from your student ID card or ask your supervisor to support your request.

School of Natural Sciences

Email your access request to victoria.stafford@manchester.ac.uk and copy in your supervisor.

Out-of-hours access

From Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, all the doors should open on approach.

Outside these hours, one pair of inner and outer doors is locked by House Services because these doors do not have magnetic locks.

The remaining inner and outer doors are secured by magnetic locks. If the emergency alarm sounds, the magnetic locks will disengage. The doors will not open automatically, but you can push them open once the locks have disengaged.
